The Barco Beat is Born
In October of 2022, lead guitarist and founding member Ron Rodgers went in search of musicians in the Washington, DC area to form a new band focused on covering classic rock and blues. Through musician search websites, he contacted Gil Glass (bass) and Yigal Narkis (drums) and invited them to a jam at a friend’s house. The three quickly came to realize that they had something special between Gil and Yigal’s solid rhythm section and Ron’s advanced guitar skills. A few weeks later, Ron found Andy Tibbals (vocals) and Gil brought in Mark Smith (guitar) from his other band, Working Theory. The bond formed was immediate and strong. The band started out playing a few gigs at the Loyal Order of Moose lodge of which Ron is a member and has rapidly built a following.

The Barco Beat specializes in covering many different styles of classic rock and blues from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, venturing into funk and even some country. The band’s eclectic, ever-growing repertoire pulls from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Kinks, The Talking Heads, Sly & The Family Stone, The Doors, The Pretenders, Dwight Yoakum, and many more. The Barco Beat is committed to bringing quality, fun, high energy performances to audiences all over the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
