Matthew Metz

Hailing from Dargan MD, a small community along the Potomac River, Matthew Metz plays old-time guitar in a way that pays tribute to his influences (Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, and Merle Travis) without attempting to replicate. He is able to interpret the music of the past and pay it due respect while still keeping it original and exciting. Metz earned his chops playing mandolin and banjo with The Fox Hunt, an old time bluegrass band from the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. Recently, Metz has been playing solo with an emphasis on finger style guitar. His shows include an amalgam of original songs and traditional numbers that fit in equally at a dive bar, at the country club or on your grandmas front porch
