Josh Misner Band
When Josh Misner was born, he was blessed into a musical family, that has had an instrument in his hand since 3 years of age, learning what would be his skillset today. From bass guitar, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, drums piano, vocals, horns, bells, xylophone, and beyond, he would pick up every instrument he could to learn to play them.
Starting on guitar, his father taught him 3 chords, and then was left on his own to figure out the rest. Quickly, he learned music by “The Beatles”, as well as various artists and styles from the 50’s to the 80’s. He would watch his musical family members play instruments very closely since none of them had time to teach him.
From the age of 10, he had begun performing on stage with the family band, and for local talent competitions. People around the community started noticing & attending his performances It wasn’t until he moved to Greensboro in 1997 that he found his first band, and a local performance venue that would let them take the stage. Q’s & Spirits of Greensboro, NC called Overdrive their house band, and people would come back week after week to see what else he had up his sleeve.
Performing with random professionals from there on and moving from state to state with his family kept him from staying a full time member of a band until they settled in Virginia. He quickly found local musicians, and ended up in a famous beach music band called “Fat Ammon’s Band” later known as “F.A.B.”, & occasionally with “The Rhondels”, & “The Embers” among others. Never did he think in a million years he would leave his roots of rock, to go learn beach. Every day on a bus before, in between, and after multiple performances a day for 6 months just to learn the material ( 300 intricate songs with vocal parts) in their lists. Don Quisenberry, and his son Lee (Vocals, Bass, Horns, Keys, etc), were musical geniuses in all aspects including production, instruction, recording… you name it! This band taught him how to live music! With members such as Chuck Williams (Double sax player who toured with Albert Collins, FAB, Rhondels), Cal Hamlin (Computer/Effects Genius & toured with FAB, Rhondels), John Roberts (FAB, Rhondels, Faith Hill) and many more!
Having two kids made his life difficult to be away from family, so he decided to leave the band. Not long after leaving, he realized he couldn’t stay away from the stage, & he must return. Performing in arenas, festivals, parties, amusement parks and beyond, Josh Misner has reached out to many people. He now is a performance instructor, music teacher, stage performer, songwriter, & audio engineer. His current performances include his unique “One Man Band” act, as well as with his band “The Josh Misner Band”, performing 7 days a week. You can even see him on stage filling in for other seasoned professionals.
From stadiums, to house parties, you can see him just about anywhere!
