Sammie Lee

Sammie Lee has had a love for music ever since she was little. She was first introduced to music, at a Woodwind camp, when she was eight years old. She borrowed her mom’s flute and began performing on stage during the camp.

From there, as she got older, Sammie Lee would record covers of songs in her room as a way to practice singing. She then tried to perform onstage again during high school, this time with piano and vocals, but forgot an entire song which caused her to almost give up performing altogether. Pushing through, Sammie Lee performed in A Cappella groups while at college and taught herself how to play the ukulele right after graduating.

Sammie Lee graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s in Secondary Education. She is an alum of both UMW Symfonics A cappella (coed) and UMW BellAcappella (all-female). She is thankful for her experience with being music director of Symfonics and being a highly contributing member of BellAcappella. Sammie Lee’s passion for music and performance remains an important part of who she is today.
